Jared joined the DREAM 1.0 challenge driven by his deep love for research and, more critically, the opportunity to secure support for solving persistent community challenges. While the challenge is complete, he remains dedicated to his core vision: implementing his innovative approach to healthcare service provision, access, or delivery. Lessons learned and defining moments The DREAM journey provided Jared with two defining moments of significant personal growth. First, he realized the critical importance of simplifying his pitch, noting that some of his technical language was an unintentional barrier to communication. Secondly, he successfully navigated the complexities of intellectual property rights, culminating in the major milestone of registering his first Intellectual Property. Beyond these moments, the program reinforced several vital lessons that will guide his future. The most refreshing was the reminder not to delay a concept, emphasizing that starting with what you have is enough. Jared also gained a powerful appreciation for the value of keeping time, viewing it as a fundamental sign of respect for the judges and fellow innovators. He believes being mindful of such avoidable errors is key to success. The power of community and adaptability The DREAM community profoundly influenced Jared's experience. Though he had hoped to collaborate with a friend, when that commitment changed, he learned to proceed regardless, adapting swiftly and recognizing that progress and results are the priority. This adaptability proved invaluable. However, the greatest impact came from friendship and mutual support. It was inspiring for Jared to see his friends participate and win, noting, "The reassurances we gave ourselves before and after the pitches... and the right support made some continue who would have otherwise quit." He finds it invaluable to have reliable collaborators and eagerly anticipates future projects with his cohort. Demonstrating his commitment to growth, Jared also proactively recruited a mentor for a new innovation he is currently developing. Looking forward Jared's participation in DREAM has already shaped his journey. In less than a month, he participated in a new pitch competition, fueled by a greater keenness on expanding his scope of innovation and intentionally seeking mentors and collaborators. He is committed to his ultimate goal, praying and working to see an innovation in healthcare service provision, delivery, or access implemented globally within the next five years.
